Goole Renaissance held its first Annual General Meeting this month, providing the opportunity to review progress to date and appoint the Executive Board for 2007/08. The Renaissance Review reflects a commitment of the partner organisations to improve the utilisation, performance and contribution of Goole’s asset and resource base, as well as enhancing and developing new opportunities for the town.
Goole Renaissance recognises that the growth plan for Goole focuses on its strong location as a gateway to the Humber trade zone with port, motorway and rail connections. Centreport Business Park is now a reality with more than £100m investment by Guardian Industries and £85m investment by Tesco. However, to capture stronger benefits for the town, Renaissance seeks to build on this growth plan under an agreed framework detailed as follows:
The Renaissance framework
1. Economic growth and production - to raise the prosperity of the town focusing on inward investment, growth and job creation.
2. Learning and skills - to raise the skills the town has to offer focusing on learning facilities and access to courses.
3. Recreation, leisure and town pride - to raise the appeal and range of facilities focusing on sport, the arts and the night time leisure economy
